Hometown Explorers: AMON! The Ultimate Texan

This week marks the 146th birthday of legendary newspaper publisher Amon G. Carter and  Theatre Arlington is preparing to welcome his story back to the stage with AMON! The Ultimate Texan. The acclaimed one-man play written by Dallas Morning News columnist Dave Lieber arrives for a special four-performance engagement January 9–11, 2026. Featuring Kelvin Dilks as the unforgettable Mr. Fort Worth, the award-winning play celebrates Carter’s wit, humor, vision, and outsized influence on Texas history. The show has been staged nearly 70 times across the Lone Star State, earning recognition for its quick-paced storytelling and heartfelt portrayal of one of Texas’s most iconic figures.

Tickets are $30 each. To purchase, call Theatre Arlington Box Office at 817 275-7661 and tell them that you want to be seated in Lori Urso's block of seats. Please purchase your tickets before January 1st. They will release the remaining seats in our block on January 1. Of course, you can still buy tickets after Jan 1 (if available), but they cannot guarantee that your seats will be in our section.
